Memories

Whoosh, the waves crash,
The wind blows my hair as I dash.
Sounds of laughter fill my ears,
It felt like I went back 7 years.

Memories of my childhood come flooding in,
Being carefree and having fun with my kin.
Splashing around in the water so cool,
Burying myself in sand like a careless fool.

My best friend and I,
Together after many years, oh my.
Running around like a free bird,
Memories in the making; my vision blurred

I lay on the gritty sand, staring at the sky,
Watching a jet zoom by.
The setting sun is now a peach,
Lying on the horizon on this very beach.

Never let your memories fade,
They help you come out of the shade.
Whether happy, sad, or mad,
Don’t let them go, your comrade.
