Candies and Chips

“Linda,  go put more glaze on your syrup fast. It is time for your first day at your new school.”
“Yes mom.” Linda got ready and glazed herself. She goes down stairs and joins the rest of her family at breakfast.
“ Linda, put on your purple wrapper. It really suits you.”
In case you guys are wondering, Linda, is a lollipop and she is going to her first day of school in Candy Land. To create a great impression, lollipops usually wear their wrappers. Linda Lolly is the oldest daughter of Candy Land’s mayor, Leon Lolly. The family of lollipops lived in a big ginger bread mansion. She had a dull life so far. Everyday filled with helping her mom design new, or as her mother says, chic wrappers for other lollipops.
Family of lollipops

Her life was only around designing. Candies in Candy Land can only go to school after the age of 13. She turned 13, 3 weeks ago and she could finally go to school! Away from designing and away from her mom’s hard judgment. She put on her purple rain wrapper because it was raining outside. Linda stepped out of her house, breathed in the fresh air, and made her way to school. She must have only gotten five blocks away when the ground shook. She turned her lollipop head left. No one. She turned it right. Oops. There was a huge army of chips. Cheetos, Doritos, Pringles, and Tostitos stood at the end of the road, luckily facing away from Linda. Her dad had told her that all the chips from Crunchy Land were very salty and spicy. That meant that they were either really irritated or mad. Two of the Doritos snatched three of the toffees and stomped away in a different direction, toward her home. The people of candy land were getting candy-napped. Linda got scared. The syrup on her started coming out and a tingle went up her round back. She was confused about what to do. Questions flooded her brain and she had 2 clear choices, should she go back home and save her family, or to school and save herself? She turned left and right, unable what to do. She saw the leader of the chips group turn and head the other way. She finally made up her mind and decided to ....

Go home and save her family. She ran back the same way she had come and opened the door to her house. She was terrified of what she saw. She hid behind a large candy cane and saw the people she loved most being taken away from her. She saw an angry french fry and the head of the pringles gang grabbing her family away and tossing them out of the house.

Linda crouched behind the candy cane, unable to help her family. She waited for the pringle and the fry to leave. Once she was sure that they had left, she came out and stood in horror. The whole house was messed up and a note was left behind by the chips.
After reading this note, Linda almost fainted. She was so scared. From the corner of her eyes, she saw spots on her body. She had read in her book that those spots were called... what was it...goose...goosebum...goosebumps. She also read that candies only get goosebumps when they are really scared. That is what she was, scared. The more precise word would be petrified.  Then it hit her. The note mentioned a couple of survivors were left. That means that there are a few more candies left. Maybe they could help each other and all find their family. She came outside and saw that a lot of the houses were broken down by the chips. She walked all around the town and at the entrance of the town, there stood the two candies she hated the most, Teresa Toffee and Graciela Gummy. Those two were the rudest candies in town. They pull pranks on everyone and have won the official title of the town's troublemakers.
" Ugh, those two couldn't possibly be the ones that the chips left here." Linda mumbled to herself, maybe a bit too loud.
" Darling, its not like we want to be with you either. Yes, we both got the message. Sad isn't it, having to spend who knows how long with you. Your mother is my absolute fan, making all those chic wrappers, but you honey, is the complete opposite to her. You ruin her reputation so much." Teresa said in her diva like voice.
She and her voice, its like how you feel when there is a bird that screeches so loud.
" I guess we have to work together if we want to find our family." Linda told Teresa.
" Yeah I guess. I mean we don't have a choice. You are the one that has the map." Graciela Gummy murmured.
" What map?" Linda asked. She saw the ransom note in her hand and turned it over to its back side.
 " Oh , that map."
The three candies left the town with the map, food, and some water. On the map the first thing they saw was the golden tree garden. The golden orchid was a only a few hours from here but it was dangerous. Any one who touches one of the golden fruits will turn into a golden statue.
" Linda, me and Graciela will just go ask someone if they know a short route to the golden tree garden." Teresa bolted away with Graciela.
" Graciela, I have a plan. We don't need this lollipop here with us, slowing us down. Lets grab the map from her and push her in to one of the golden trees. That way she will not drag us down." Teresa whispered.
" Oh you are a genius Teresa!" Graciela exclaimed. In an hour, the trio reached the golden tree garden.  All three of them walked cautiously through the orchard. Linda lead the group and Teresa didn't complain because she had her own plans. Teresa and Graciela exchanged looks. Linda, who looked calm had actually found out about their secret. She acted like it was a normal day. Graciela moved closer to Linda on her right side. Teresa scooted closer to Graciela. Together, they tried to push her over. Linda noticed this just as Teresa pushed and Graciela nudged, Linda took three steps back and watched as Graciela couldn't balance. She fell over, but she didn't touch the trees. As she got up, her thumb touched one of the golden apples. Her feet started to turn into a golden creamy color. It grew throughout her body. Teresa yelled like a cat screeching. Linda stifled a giggle and looked away. Teresa got frightened but tried to hide it. They both knew that there was no way out of this and that their families and friends were in trouble. They told themselves that they would save her on their way back and exited the garden.
They had already lost Graciela due to her stupidness. There were only two candies left. They still had a long way to go and still one more place on the way to pass, the Forever Maze. This maze was said to be where so many people get lost and go crazy. Teresa was scared, but she did not want to show it to Linda. Linda on the other hand looked as if this did not bother her. Like she had already come on this path before. No, it couldn't be. Teresa just shook her head and cleared away the thought. They both headed towards the maze. It felt like they had been walking for ages when a twizeler( a candy) rode by the two of them on a candy apple carriage.
" Girls, would you like a ride? You are sweating so much and it is obvious you are in a rush." The candy asked in a hoarse voice.
" Of course. Thank you very much kind sir". Linda replied, gratefully.
The two candies clambered onto the carriage and the driver rode on. After a while, the twizeler finally asked them," Where are you going?"
" We are going to the Forev...." Teresa started.
" We are going to the Fort that is opposite the maze. My father works there." Linda interrupted Teresa and pushed her hand down firmly. She did not want anyone else knowing about their quest. What if they were spies?
" Ok, but you girls don't wander off into the maze." The twizeler warned.Once the reached the fort they pretended to go inside it until the carriage had left. Once the coast was clear, they crossed the road and walked into the maze. They entered into the maze and they both walked side by side, deeper and deeper into the maze. Soon, the maze started getting smaller and smaller.

" We will have to go one by one, I will lead." Linda volunteered. " Um. No, I am not going to follow you around anywhere. You are not the boss of me. I am going to go the other way. You seem to be acting weird, well weirder than usual and I don't know about you, but I want to get to my family. You don't seem like you want to." Teresa yelled and walked away in the different direction. Linda too, walked away and tried to figure it out. Sometimes, they would cross paths but usually they are alone.Linda was confused and wanted to work together, but Teresa was against it. The bushes behind Linda started closing in and in. She started jogging, which turned into a run, which finally became a sprint. After a while, the maze stopped closing in and the girls relaxed. On one side of the maze, Linda strolled through cautiously. On the other hand, Teresa was over confident and marched through the maze like it was her own house. On both sides of the maze, lay a new challenge. Teresa would soon face a bruised lion and Linda would face a tiger with a bleeding paw. This task was to test their judgement. If they passed they would be led out of the maze. Teresa's adreline shot through her and her arrogance got the better of her. Like any normal candy, she got scared and threw a stone at the lion. The lion got mad and pounced on Teresa. Teresa's last sight was the pool of red blood shot eyes of lions. Meanwhile, Linda, took pity on the tiger's bruise. Instead of hurting it, she tended to it with a healing leaf next to her. The tiger disappeared as fast as it appeared. Linda walked through the bright mossy door.
Linda was the only one left. She only had one stop left to get to, the garage where the chips held her family hostage. She was determined to go have a talk with those chips. She kept following the map until she reached the border between Candy Land, and Crunchy land. There were guards. The guard saw the candy and immediately thought that she might be a spy.
" Mam, we are going to have to take you in for check up. One of the chips dragged Linda into the office. Linda was terrified and didn't know what to do. She was taken to a dark room and a lady candy checked her all through. After many tests, the officer spoke to some other colleagues. Finally a lady came inside and told her that she was cleared to go across. Linda started jogging around town, anxious to see her family. She kept following the map until she reached her destination. Linda Lolly barged inside the garage where the chips have kept the candies hostage.
" Hello boys. You now I told you to give us the short route to this place, not the long one!!" Linda yelled at the chips.
" We are sorry mam. We thought you told us to give you the long one." One of the Doritos apologized.
" Well any way, good job chips. You managed to do it. You all will get your share of the gig."
" Thank you mam. You are very kind."
" Let my family lose." she demanded.
" Of course." one of the chips stated.
Linda's dad gasped and took a long breath. All the candies were in shock.
" Linda. What is going on? How do you know these chips darling?" her dad asked curiously.
" Oh dad, you poor pathetic little thing. You thought you were going to have a perfect little future and be safe for ever, didn't you? Well, here's a story, a true one I am going to tell all of you. Once upon a time, there was a chip. Not one that came from her mother, but one that was made by the most famous scientist in all the realms. This special chip had a micro remote built into her. The general of the chips' army had decided to use this chip as their secret weapon. Soon after this, my dad, the mayor of that idiotic town found out and managed to smuggle the chip to Candy Land. He hired the most renowned plastic surgeon to make the chip look like a candy. He kept this a secret from all the other candies and raised that special chip as his own daughter. That special chip is me. It was only five months ago when I saw some crispy ruffles on my back. I got worried and did not tell mom because  did not want to worry her. Then, I told you guys that that I would go to the library, but instead I saw the new doctor in town. He said I was revealing my true self, a chip. I then put my wrapper on and made a trip to Crunchy Land. There, the librarian told me all about my history and the whole  charade. The whole entire town got to know this and welcomed me like no one has ever done before.
That is when I hatched this evil plan. I wanted revenge so badly. Do you know how I felt when I learned that my own dad, used me for the safety of his town, and the prize to pay was for my true identity to be hidden. It's like the real me never even survived. I could have had a different future, a better one even. Instead, I spent the first 13 years of my fake life forced to learn my mothers stupid designing. I hated it so much. I felt like I was trapped within these four wall surrounded by sewing machines and clothes and even more clothes. Now you may all be wondering, did this crazy chip candy thing bring us here just to tell her sad story? No. I brought you all here to teach you a lesson. To teach you all how being an other person feels like when you know you don't fit in.Where do you think you are right now mommy?" Linda inquired.
" Um. Um. Darling, are you ok?" her mom asked.
"No mam, you do not get to darling me anymore and you aint a mother to me. You are just an other betrayer. Just answer the question!" Linda roared.
" I think we are in a garage." Her mom mumbled in a mouse like voice.
" Incorrect. We are in a rocket, something the humans in their world use. You are going to need to know these things because you will be joining them. There is a sorceress I have invited that will cast a spell on all of you to become humans." Linda explained.
As she said, a sorceress came in through a door and muttered a few words. In a blink of an eye, all the candies there turned into humans. She also cast a few other spells. As quick as she came, she left.
" Now, when you all get to your new home, you will all be farmers, poor and pathetic. Just what you will deserve. Have fun! Oh  and good luck candies, or should I say humans. Good riddance!" Linda yelled and she and the chips went outside. The countdown began and soon, the rocket launched. Linda took off her lollipop cover and revealed to everyone her true self. She was the queen of the chips, the one and only classic potato chip. She was a nice and generous queen too, loyal to her town and the town is loyal to her. She had won. She had gotten her revenge and was happy.  Ten years later, she found herself in a good, happy position. She had a new family now and was well off. Seems like villains can also get their happy ending.
