It was a normal Sunday evening(it was in 2012). My new born sisters were wobbling and crawling around the house. My mom and my grandma were in the kitchen arguing with each other on what that day's dinner was going to be(as usual😄). My grandpa was reading a book on the couch peacefully. Dad had yet to come home from a busy work day. Just as I was thinking where he was, I heard a knock on the door. It was daddy! He rushed in and lifted my sister and me. Then, he uttered to me,"Shreya, I have something to tell you." I moved closer to him as he started whispering.
I closed my eyes and my dad exclaimed,"We are going to London for 2 years!!"My eyes opened immediately. You would expect a classic 6 year old kid to jump up and down with joy when they heard this. I mean come on, it is LONDON!! But, I guess I am not a classic kid. It felt like my heart sank in Davy Jones' Locker(in case you didn't know, Davy Jones' Locker is at the bottom of the sea, especially regarded as the grave of those drowned at sea).
More than half of my relatives resided in India. In my opinion, being away from family is very hard. I grew up staying with all of my grandparents and relatives around me. Now, it just seemed so hard to leave them all and go to a place that was about 6,704 km away from them!I couldn't believe I could do it. And just as I thought, on the day we were leaving to London, I couldn't step into that taxi. My mom and I bawled our hearts out.
Now a days, since I have moved around so much, I am used to it. But still, every summer, I have to have my grandparents come to Dallas to enjoy with me. No matter what, I will hold on and cherish my family for ever. I will pay them back with kindness for all they have done and sacrificed for me. I want to end this by saying Thank you to all my relatives.
